Now, in addition to selling limited-edition, exclusive pieces from emerging designers, Of a Kind is adding a new offering to the mix: Collections, where you can shop the lines of some of the crazy-talented, super-inspiring up-and-comers who you discover on our site—so you can access their wares in one place, day-in and day-out.

For now, we’re keeping things small—we’re in closed beta!—and we’ll be adding more and more designers to the roster as we grow. But don’t worry: The point is not to overwhelm. There will be stories and editorial features to help you along so you never say, “Whoa, where do I go now?” (Or at least that’s the hope.)

Some questions we anticipate people will frequently ask:

Q: How does shipping work?

A: So glad you asked! All of the designers ship their products directly to you, but there are flat shipping rates so you’re never surprised when you hit checkout: It’s $9.50 for the first item and $4.50 for each additional item on top of that.

Q: How long will it take?

A: All orders will be shipped within 72 hours. If there is a delay for any reason, you’ll be notified (prominently!) in your order confirmation email and will have 24 hours to cancel.

Q: Since the shipments are coming from different places, does that mean I have to contact each of the designers directly if I have a customer service question?

A: Nope! Reach out to us at collections.customerservice@ofakind.com, and we’ll deal with everything. We want to make this easy-breezy for you.

Q: So what if I need to make a return?

A: You contact us for an authorization number and address, we tell you where to send it, and we give the designer a head’s up that it’s coming. Once they get it, we credit your credit card. Like we said: Easy-breezy. Exchanges will be facilitated when possible.

Q: Why if my order shows up damaged?

A: YIKES. That sucks—we’re really sorry. Contact us at collections.customerservice@ofakind.com, and we’ll have a replacement sent out, stat. (If one is not available, we’ll credit your card just as quickly.) Then we’ll send you a shipping label to send the bad egg back.

Q: But what about the limited-edition stuff? Are you still doing that?

A: YES! That’s our bread and butter—our dark jeans and white tee, if you will. For now—while we’re in beta, Collections will live at ofakindcollections.com, but once everything is up and running smoothly, all will be integrated so that you can score your Editions and Collections at the same time.

Q: Will there be more designers soon? Or is this it?

A: For the time being, we’re hosting a limited group of designers to test the water and work out the kinks—and if you run into any glitches, email collections.customerservice@ofakind.com and tell us, stat. Once we feel like we have things under control, we’ll start inviting more!

Q: Why are you doing this?

A: Well, because as much as we love working with designers to create special pieces, we want people to be able to develop long-term relationships with them and their brands. If you connected with a designer and bought his or her edition from our site, we want to give you the opportunity to keep supporting them directly season after season without having to scour the internet or boutiques to track down their wares. Basically, just stay here.
